On July 25th, in Słupie Environmental Educational Center, in educational base of Wigry National Park, the third educational activities related to the implementation of the project 'Protection of amphibians in Natura 2000 areas in north-eastern Poland' (LIFE12 NAT/PL/000063), took place.

The lecture called 'Amphibians ABC' was attended by 31 children from the Suwalszczyzna area.

The activities were based on conducting amphibians observations during the summer season, i.e., during the seasonal migration of common frog, common toad and edible frog. The participants had the opportunity to compare the juveniles from the previous season with this year's juveniles and adult amphibians of the mentioned species. Amphibians models were also used during the classes. Young herpetologists learned to distinguish amphibians mating voices, the completed the timesheets and got to know the characteristics of individual species.

At the end of the lecture, the group was divided in to 6 teams and they all played a board game called 'Let's play green'. The teams had many interesting arts tasks, exercises and other tasks checking the children's' knowledge. The winning team received T-shirts and mugs with the logo of the project.

On July 6th the construction of culverts system for amphibians on the road no 1953N (Skajzgiry - Zytkiejmy) in "Skajzgiry I" was completed. On the stretch of the road with a length of 0,550 km (from km 2+516 to km 3+066) there has been built:
- 10 tunnels with a length of 9 m each,
- 20 portals,
- grills with cast iron grates and frames with a total length of 8 m,
- 1105 m of guiding barriers on both sides of the road.

The tunnels are arranged across the road, every 50 m. All culverts' construction components are made of polymer concrete and thus have a compressive strength and flexural strength, chemical resistance, lack of reinforcement and absorbency (water penetration depth = 0 mm).

On July 1st, the Association participated in the LIFE Information Day, organized in Warsaw by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The meeting was attended by 210 participants, in cluding many LIFE projects' beneficiaries. This was therefore an opportunity to showcase the achievements of the project and make new contacts with other beneficiaries. The stand of our project was very popular and the guide for recognizing amphibians of Poland (with the amphibians' voices) which was published as a part of the project, enjoyed a huge in terest.
